Adventure Story
Costa Rica

Arrived beginning of Feb, left 21st March.

Sadly first couple of weeks not shown on this adventure because iSPOT is limited to just 30 days of data. It's a great gadget but man it annoys me how the operate some elements.

Anyhow, in a nutshell . . . . . .

Costa Rica is stunning, gorgeous, hot, beautiful beaches, humid jungles, active volcanoes, birds like you aint ever seen anywhere and lots of wildlife.

The downside? - well, as soon as you try to do anything even remotely touristy you need to ensure you have the full support of your bank. It is VERY expensive. For some reason the Costa Rican authorities believe that all tourists are extremely wealthy, i mean $5 for a drink or $100 for a 2 hour 'jungle experience' !

best bits : ARENAL Volcano, camped for free by a river and watched the hot lava rocks rolling down the sides while listening every couple of hours to the extremely loud rumblings of 'mother earth' all this while watching toucans flying around the truck.  WOW.

best bit 2 : OSA peninsular, particularly the CORCOVADO NP.  Some real jungle here and great hiking. Scarlet Macaws flying around like sparrows on a wet london pavement.

best bit3 : did I mention the 'LEATHERBACK TURTLES' ? how we watched this huge creature so delicately dig her nest over a metre deep in the fine soft sand - amazing experience, bigger WOW than all the others.

worst bit  :  MonteVerde, this is touted as THE PLACE TO GO, cloud forest experience etc, oh boy, what a disappointment, expensive, trashy, tacky and touristy - it was liking visiting disney !  yuch, my advice : "Don't Bother".
