Adventure Story

Hi everyone!!!!  We have a World Record!!

During the last four days, Ramon has been flying every day. The first two days there were a lot of limitations due to the strong cloud development influenced by the monsoon. The second two days, with less clouds, but conditions were not ideal.

It snows every afternoon, and yesterday he could see snowing almost everywhere when he was flying at 6000m.

Ramon has been travelling the area in order to find the best spot to soar, but it is full of glacial and it makes it pretty difficult since the wind goes down even if the slopes are facing wind. This entire means the meteo conditions are very special here.

Today, Tuesday 8th, he manage to beat his own World Record (in Sierra Nevada at 6700m) and fly until 7354m, even with SW winds, not the best, he aims for NW winds.

He took off at 4000m with a lot of thermals, he moved to the ridges of Rupal crossing by Mazeno pass at 5200m. There he managed to soar up to 7000m close to the Mazeno peak when he finally moved to the centre of the valley, where he took off again and grabbed a wave that soared him little by little to the 7400m. Well, some instruments reflect 7300m, others 7500m. When he was getting closer to the Nanga wall aiming to soar it, the descent started to be too strong. He made several attempts, but in the end he decided to reach the highest altitude possible flying in wave.

He has flown for 3.5h using an Advance Sigma 7 - 28, a PAP paramotor, using a Hermes motor with no issue at all. He has used nitromethane in a low ratio mix since they could not find a purest one to get a better performance. He comments on this "I really look like the Michelin man”, since he was loaded with clothes to face the cold. Even though, he managed to take some pics and videos for the TV show.

He still has several days to complete the mission and reach the Nanga summit. It looks like a dry mass of air is coming from the NW next Thursday... We’ll keep you posted.

Hola !!!!

Saludos
