Adventure Story Another day of adventure flying with Peter in his 182 floatplane. I wanted to show Peter one of my favorite lakes Widgeon Lake at 2600 feet. From the Pitt Meadows Airport CYPK it is less then a fifteen minute flight. Hard to believe that only fifteen minute away from the mainland there is a quite alpine lake that is almost a fly in only lake. Just to hike there you need a boat to get to the 18km trial head. We tied up the plane on a logjam on the east end of the lake where the creek flows out to the 1500 foot waterfall. Balancing along logs we made our way to a rock slide area and jumped from bolder to bolder to get to the waterfall. We where getting close to the end of our flight plan, so we where going to have to get airborne and back in to cell range. Also we where getting hungry so we stopped and the Gill Netter pub on the Pitt River for lunch. After some bad service but full bellies we are off to Lake Lovely Water at 3900 feet. This lake is hidden in the mountains just north of Squamish. I myself have wanted to go to this lake for years, every time I have tried to go there the winds where not favorable so I always ended up at Phantom Lake. This time it is perfect, breathtaking overhanging glaciers; water falls, a snowfield running into the lake, with the mountain creeks and a Caribbean like blue hue on the lake water I cab see how the lake got it’s name. We beached the plane on the only piece of sand on the whole lake at an out flowing creek at the west end of the lake. Looking into the clear water we can see fish swimming around the plane and there even spawning in the creek. We spent as long as our flight plan would let us on the lake, I hiked up part way the glacier to get some photos of the lake. Got to say I just wanted to stay there! I guess I will have to plan a return trip with the whole day and a fishing rod in hand!
