Adventure Story More to come later:
Basically, we found ourselves in Peru during a two-three week window when the Cotahuasi River is raftable. With the help of John Yost, and Russell Kramer, we were able to organize a private trip. Commercial trips down the river run at about 3,500 dollars a person and we were able to put together a punk rock trip, bringing a boat from the states, and renting an oar boat and kayak from Cusco, it ended up costing about 150 a person (until we broke the kayak and had to buy a new one). Anyways, we used public transit to get to Cotahuasi, and then organized mules to help us carry all the gear to a place where we could put in. After that, it was about 5 days of non-stop Class III-V rapids without maps or anybody who had ever been down the river. We had a lot of close, calls, boats flipping, swims, etc. and after about 6 days found ourselves in Iquipi where we were loading our gear onto a truck and heading back.
